Bucket Lists or Basket Lists

Do you have a so-called bucket list? I didn’t really think I did until we recently started planning a family vacation and things began falling into place for all involved. I prefer to call mine a basket list. It sounds prettier.

We are flying to Arizona in early June for the sole purpose of visiting a university campus for our son. I really don’t want to fly anymore but conceded that is the only way this will work. I’ll just double my CBD intake a hopefully sleep between departures and take-offs. My goal: To return home in one piece. (I did all my flying decades ago. No longer a fan.)

The ONE thing on my Basket List has always been to be a novelist.

I accomplished that and then my dream was (is) to be a best-selling novelist.

Now I want to earn a living being a novelist.

Pretty much sums up my list of dreams.

My husband, on the other hand, makes it his life goal to tick off a pre-ordained list of items; one is to visit all 50 US states. He and his buddies have been in competition to meet this goal all their adult lives. Well, he’ll add a few on this trip plus getting to see the Grand Canyon. I’m happy for him. It promises to be an incredible event.

My perspective: It’s just a big hole in the earth.

Right?

My physical limitations dampen my enthusiasm, as always; but I refuse to allow The MonSter to ruin this opportunity. In fact, I discovered another item for my Basket List: FIRST CLASS ACCOMMODATIONS.
