The Multiple Sclerosis Attitude

Life by design, not by diagnosis.

Today in America, we celebrate a day of giving thanks. Families across the land will wake to a day of traditions, warm food (hopefully), football, and thoughts of family and gratitude.

Many folks meet at the dinner table to recite their individual lists of gratitudes. I hope you are one of those people.

Today, I am thankful for my own family, those who will be present at our table as well as those celebrating elsewhere, and those who sat with us in the past.

I am thankful for the medical science responsible for my latest acquisition: the Bioness L100Go. But even more, I am humbly grateful for the individuals who made this purchase a possibility: the community of Monongah, West Virginia. I’ve never felt such love and support.

As someone who actively avoids public attention, this experience was initially terrifying. I survived, though, and continue to bask in the sincerity of the most wonderful community on earth.

THANK YOU!

Today I will “show off” my Bioness device to my immediate family as we gather around the table in thanksgiving for this beautiful day. Living with multiple sclerosis is no picnic, but there are ways to find comfort. A gym is not needed in order to exercise. Wealth is not a requisite for inner peace. A smile is an easy solution to a dreary day.

We CAN control our MS treatment to a large degree. Be creative. Need a shoulder on which to lean or an ear to listen? I’m right here, on FaceBook, on Twitter, and always available for a chat. Don’t try to do this alone. We are Warriors. We are family.

We can design our lives beyond the diagnosis. Let’s do it together.

Give thanks, be grateful, enjoy one another,

Lisa

I am also thankful for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Oh, and football! Definitely football!
